She became politically active as a student in the Glasgow University Labour Club in the late 1970s, where she associated with Johann Lamont and Sarah Boyack.

She held several posts in Labour student politics, including Secretary of Glasgow University Labour Club, Secretary of the Scottish Organisation of Labour Students, Chair of that organisation, and Vice-Chair of the Labour Club.

Early Setbacks

8 February 2008: Margaret Curran said; “Knife crime is the number one issue in my constituency and it is one where the SNP have been completely complacent”. And this is from a woman who attempted to lie her way into public office in the Glasgow East By-election!

She fails to mention that under the SNP Government, crime is falling but then the truth always plays second fiddle to spreading fear in the Labour Party. http://glasgowunihumanrights.blogspot.co.uk/2010/02/labour-msp-margaret-curran-and-labour.html

10 July 2008: Margaret Curran calls home a luxury house in Glasgow’s leafy south side. The property, worth around £650,000 is a world away from the kind of housing used by most of her would-be constituents in the city’s deprived East End.

She again told voters after a campaign launch that she had lived in the city’s East End ‘all her life’. But the claim has been exposed as untrue after it emerged that she has actually lived in a far more affluent part of the city for several years.

The disclosure has sparked accusations from election rivals that Mrs Curran cannot be trusted to tell the truth to voters. http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-181170789.html

19 July 2008: Margaret Curran publicly backed a campaign to try and save Parkhead Fire Station from closure, saying that the station should not close unless fire service response times were bettered by its replacement. But, oh dear.

It was Margaret Curran and the Labour Party who voted for the Fire Act (2005) which scrapped guaranteed response times. A fact that was not lost on the firefighters. “She seems to have forgotten that she is partly responsible.

It really is hypocritical of her now to talk in this way.” one said. http://northbritain.wordpress.com/2008/07/19/labours-animal-cruelty-in-glasgow-east/

24 July 2008: Asked on the Radio Scotland show Good Morning Extra by a caller if she would consider moving to the East End of Glasgow constituency if elected. She pointedly refused to answer the question instead stating, ‘I have lived in the East End all my life’.

A slip of the tongue perhaps, she has lived in a £600 000 villa in the fashionable Newlands area in Glasgow’s Southside for many years https://northbritain.wordpress.com/tag/margaret-curran/

27 July 2013: Beware the fury of a Labour woman scorned, writes Joan McAlpine. Margaret Curran’s speech when she actually won an election, to Holyrood last year, was as sour as a grape blighted by a sudden frost.

Miffed at her reduced majority, she subjected thousands watching live on television to an ill-tempered rant about her determination “not to be intimidated” and to fight on and on. http://scottishchristian.com/curran-damned-by-self-delusion/

25 July 2008: The Scottish National Party pulled off a stunning by-election victory by winning Glasgow East, one of Labour’s safest seats, by 365 votes, a swing from Labour to the SNP of 22.54%. (from Margaret Curran).

Labour minister and Scottish MP Douglas Alexander said his party needed to “learn the lessons” from the “bad result”. But they didn’t. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/7522153.stm

14 February 2010: Curran is an obnoxious and offensive woman who breathes hate like a dragon whenever she talks about the SNP. She reminds me of Thatcher in her later years, but without the polish. Having been beaten by the SNP, of course, must have hurt.

There are better on the labour benches in Edinburgh. They are, however, less visible, because they sit and think rather than stand and shout ill-thought-out nonsense. http://scotgoespop.blogspot.co.uk/2010/02/margaret-currant-politics-by-numbers.html

28 May 2013: Labour & the Tory’s conspired to keep secret from the Scottish public the 1979 McCrone report covering up the true extent of oil & gas in the North Sea. Margaret Curran deny’s any knowledge of it? But can this be true since she was already operating at the highest level in the Labour party. http://ayewecan.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/margaret-currans-strangly-disfunctional.html

Denis_HealeyJS43586022

23 July 2014: Another ‘mistake’ that was made by Maggie was when our paid representative denied knowing Dennis Healey. Maggie joked that she ‘was not around’ when Healey was serving in office. The problem with the statement, however, is that whilst Healey was the Labour Chancellor, Maggie was the vice-Chair of the Glasgow Uni Labour Club.

A position she resigned from in 1980 amid allegations of an attempt to rig the conference of the National Organisation of Labour Students. All of this scandal without even mentioning that Maggie was the election agent for Mohammed Sarwar when he was charged with election offences in 1997.

Finally, before summarising, a look at the link below will show you that Maggie’s promise to ‘fight hard for Glasgow East’ also seems to be inaccurate. Maggie is below the average MP for oral questions asked, and for vote participation. With expenses of £171k and £159k in the past two years, she is, confusingly, above the average for expenditure. http://www.vanguardbears.co.uk/maggie-the-shadow-curran-mp.html

Land Sales, Transfers, Swaps, Greater Glasgow Council & Celtic Football Club & Margaret Curran’s Involvement

The European Commission are investigating claims of state aid at Celtic after buying various pieces of land, the main one being where Lennoxtown is situated.

It is claimed Glasgow City Council sold these pieces of land at rates well below the market value, while Celtic immediately used them as security (on the same day) with the Co-op bank for “soft loans”, which are also being investigated as part of a wider investigation into shady practices by the Co-op bank with regards to Labour, who also benefitted from loans which would eventually cost the bank money.

Lennoxtown land was valued at £30.2 MILLILON yet this club got the land for £400.000 + so can someone tell me how ANY council can sell land with that value for 1/64 of its TRUE value…???. Once again this club with it’s unblemished history shows us the meaning of INTEGRITY….their version

11 Mar 2014: Financial Integrity. At the time Celtic Football Club was awarded the right to acquire land owned by Glasgow City Council, (GGC) the purchase should have been paid for & not in token amounts like 1p or £1. None of the GCC documents mention any option charge or settlement.

Options to acquire land given solely to Celtic by GGC can be construed as State Aid and it is amazing that participants to the transactions had no idea that the modus operandus is illegal under EU State Aid and with the GCC the number of times it has happened displays a systemic abuse of the system which make it worse. http://footballtaxhavens.wordpress.com/2014/03/11/options-to-acquire-land-given-solely-to-celtic-can-be-construed-as-state-aid/

May 28 2014: This stuff goes deep into the heart of the Glasgow City Council, the Scottish Labour Party cabal that has worked under the momentum of the redevelopment of the East End, the East End Regeneration Route/The Clyde Gateway and The Commonwealth Games to deliver cheap land to Celtic PLC.

The current Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, Margaret Curran MP (Labour) appears to have been caught acting for Celtic in commercial negotiations with the sale of public land owned by the West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) to the detriment of the public purse. http://footballtaxhavens.wordpress.com/2014/05/28/shadow-secretary-of-state-for-scotland-margaret-curran-creates-a-shadow-over-transfer-of-wsha-public-land-to-celtic/

31 May 2014: Margaret Curran rushed the transaction through and now we see the consequences – the public authority end up with the bill and the private company, Celtic, getting a free pass. Because of the intervention of a Scottish Labour member, Glasgow East MP and Shadow Secretary Scotland the normal checks & balances were roughly pushed aside to quickly help Celtic get rid of some dodgy contaminated land – the patsy being a Glasgow Housing Association.

A public authority so in effect the rate tax payers ended up with bill. http://footballtaxhavens.wordpress.com/2014/05/31/land-celtic-swapped-with-wsha-was-heavily-contaminated-housing-association-left-with-clean-up-bill-and-let-down-by-dv-margaret-curran/

12 Jun 2014: One major piece of information that came out of the the West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) land debacle is that valuations by the District Valuer (DV) are only valid for 6 months. Some of the valuations, including DV valuations, accepted by the GCC for the sale of land to Celtic PLC were years old.

In the case of the London Road Primary School (LRPS) the valuation was 7 years old (see previous post). http://footballtaxhavens.wordpress.com/2014/06/12/glasgow-city-councils-corrupt-misuse-of-old-district-valuer-valuations-and-the-rpi-on-land-valuations/

13 September 2012: Since May, Margaret Curran has only managed to ask 11 questions of any relevance to anyone but herself. That is not the full story of course as she can easily be meeting organisations relevant to life in Scotland. At yesterday’s Scottish Question Time at Westminster for example, she made comments regarding food prices in Scotland and the problems that many families had in having enough money to feed their families. She even quoted Save The Children and Citizens Advice Scotland on their work on poverty in Scotland.

However it was revealed that when there was a meeting and significant discussions this week with many of the leading stakeholders on child poverty in Scotland, including Save The Children, Margaret Curran did not turn up.

It is unclear what was more important to her than child poverty in Scotland but people are asking what she’s being paid for doing.

Margaret Curran claimed £155,504.65 in expenses last year. http://tattie-scones.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/what-hell-is-margaret-curran-doing.html

Scottish Independence Referendum – Student and Student Organisations Actively Canvassed for Better Together But got their Comeuppance

Image result for scottish independence referendum and students

Students perverted the outcome of the 2014 Independence Referendum

A large number of students emigrated to Scotland for around a 3 month period before the referendum with the intention of campaigning for “Better Together.”

Recording their place of residence in Scotland gained many of them the right to a vote.

The English Labour Students Vice-Chair (Events & Communications) wrote in his blog.

“This summer I spent almost 12 weeks in Scotland campaigning daily with the “Better Together” campaign.

Actively campaigning to keep Scotland a part of the UK I had some great experiences and met some wonderful voters, being asked in for tea and a blether on countless occasions.

A lot of people like myself, came with me to Scotland to volunteer in what was the most historic vote of our generation.

The reason I chose to spend the summer months campaigning in Scotland was simple.

As an active member of the Labour Party my values are that we achieve more together than we achieve alone, that stands true for the nations of the UK as much as for ordinary people. (Labour Students)

This lot believed the Unionist hype and actively worked against the wishes of Scots

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) and the National Union of Students Scotland (NUS Scotland) all fully supported the “Better Together” campaign, to the hilt.

Expecting their significant support would be given  due credence and their voices would be given priority the group wrote a nice letter to Carmichael requesting that, as significant campaigners they be afforded access to himself so that they would be able to assist in the post referendum strategy planning process.

They were sorely disappointed. Their requests were totally ignored.

Politicians alone would be in charge of any and all measures to be put to Westminster.

The letter:

Dear Mr Carmichael – A New Politics, a New Democracy and a New Scotland

Congratulations to yourself and the “Better Together” team on the result of the Referendum campaign.

The debate over the two and a half years has been exciting and has engaged people in unprecedented numbers.

It has also offered a vision of how a more just and equal society might be created provided the Scottish people can work together to achieve those ends.

The result will hopefully act as the catalyst we need for people, communities, and organisations across all sectors – third, public and private – to work together in a new way to create real change in a new Scotland.

SCVO, STUC and NUS Scotland strongly believe that to deliver fundamental change in Scotland we need to significantly change the way we do things.

We want to see a citizen-led process that works to form Scotland’s new constitutional settlement – a new way of doing democracy and making decisions in Scotland, that puts the people first.

This must go beyond the existing model where government consults with communities and involve genuine ownership of the process by the people.

Such a process should, of course, include civil society organisations such as our own which represent those in workplaces, communities and students.

But it also requires a commitment to new ways of engaging citizens and small communities of interest more directly.

As well as shaping Scotland’s new constitutional arrangement, this process must consider other aspects of accountability and community empowerment.

It would also provide the foundation for the building of a successful social partnership model, similar to those which exist in many successful small countries in Europe.

Our organisations, and the millions of people in Scotland that we represent, need to know and trust that the people will not be locked out of what happens following this referendum.

We are therefore writing to you to ask you to endorse a citizen-led process to ensure the people decide the next steps for Scotland.

This citizen-led process, rather than one led by politicians alone, would have two elements:

Consideration of more powers for the parliament and consideration of how we empower our people over the decisions that affect their lives:

The citizen-led process looking at powers would potentially keep to the timeline proposed by Gordon Brown, but crucially, it would take the powers offered by the three main unionist parties in the campaign as a starting point and have a mandate to look beyond them.

The second element of the citizen-led process would look beyond constitutional powers, to how we can empower communities and citizens in the decisions that affect their lives.

This would likely have a longer timetable, perhaps in time for the Scottish Parliament elections in 2016.

The benefits of a citizen-led approach is that we will show that we wish to start as we wish to go on, genuinely changing how we make decisions in Scotland, empowering the people of Scotland over the decisions that affect their lives.

The SCVO, STUC and NUS Scotland hope that you will agree to an initial meeting with us, to agree the basis for the citizen-led process we describe and as the start of a process involving a wider range of civil society organisations.

We all recognize that as well as opportunities, Scotland faces significant challenges in the months and years ahead.

Those challenges will be easier to face if citizens feel genuinely empowered to make a difference.

We hope you will agree and we offer you the support of our organisations and our members to make this happen.

Best Regards.

Scotland has Been Changed Forever by the Outcome of the Referendum

Scotland has Been Changed Forever by the Outcome of the Referendum

Lamont finally agrees Scotland has been changed forever by the outcome of the Referendum – But can the Labour Party in Scotland Change?? or Will it Still, “Cow Tow” to the Instructions of the English Labour Party??

Johann Lamont smiled for the cameras, ignoring the abject failure of her Party machine to motivate Labour leaning voters to support a, “No” vote in the referendum. Instead she weakly offered a view that it was clearly time for change. Addressing colleagues she went on to express concern that whilst Scotland had voted decisively to remain part of the UK significant numbers of Scots had expressed a strong wish to be independent and it was important that the establishment directed efforts towards healing wounds bringing Scotland together once more.

She studiously ignored the fact three of the four areas of Scotland that had voted, “Yes” were Labour Party controlled previously impregnable heartlands, (North Lanarkshire, Glasgow and West Dumbartonshire. Indeed the constituencies of MPs, Margaret Curran, Tom Harris, Willie Bain, Frank Roy, Ian Davidson, Anas Sarwar, Gregg McClymont and Tom Clarke, as well as MSPs Jackie Baillie, Paul Martin, Patricia Ferguson, Michael McMahon and Johaan Lamont herself were among those that voted, “Yes. As is always the case Labour sought to point the finger of failure at other parts of the, “Better Together” campaign asserting it was the barnstorming intervention of Gordon Brown that had saved the day.

But some Labour Party activists did accept there were many shortcomings in the entirely negative campaign and direction the Party had taken in recent times that would need to be addressed and corrected, if the Party was to recover it’s former place in Scottish society. Noteworthy comments;

“The problem has been too many in Labour politics believe they’ve a seat for life. There was a mini-cull of Labour councillors in Glasgow several years back and there may well be one in Lanarkshire very soon.

“The party is too remote from the voters and needs to talk about its failures and failings. [Council leaders] Gordon Matheson and Jim McCabe have serious questions to answer.”

Labour Party Manifesto Plans for the 2015 General Election

Ed Balls set out the direction a future Labour Government would take, if elected. Overall it seems his proposals would increase the budget deficit to around £100Billion. This would require funding and bets are the party would need to increase personal taxes significantly OR borrow the money from the World Bank adding the new loan to the £1.8trillion the country already owes. What a disaster!! A terrible legacy to be handed over to our children. Meantime bankers and their ilk are picking up salaries and bonus packages well in excess of £3Million  each year. The very very rich need to give much much more back to society.

Labour Party Manifesto Plans for the 2015 General Election
1. Mistakes Made by the Last Labour Government.

a. Labour admitted the previous administration had got it wrong on immigration, tax, regulating the banks and tackling poverty. But insisted they had learned lessons of the past, and would not repeat them in the future. In an attempt to persuade voters to trust the Party with the nation’s finances, the Shadow Chancellor apologized for failing to regulate the banks in the last labour government. He said, “While it was the banks which caused the global recession, and it was the global recession which caused deficits to rise here in Britain and around the world, the truth is we should have regulated those banks in a tougher way”. “It was a mistake. We should apologize for it. And I do.”

b. On immigration, he said there should have been tougher rules on immigration from Eastern Europe. He added: ‘It was a mistake not to have transitional controls in 2004 and we must change the rules in the future.’ He went on: ‘We didn’t do enough to tackle the underlying causes of rising spending on housing benefit and in-work poverty. “So the next Labour government will raise the minimum wage, build more homes to get the housing benefit bill down and cap overall spending on social security”.
2. List of Things to be Introduced and Scrapped.

a. Child benefit increases to be capped at 1 per cent until 2016-17

b. Married couples tax break to be scrapped.

c. Retirement age to be increased further for Both Sexes.

d. Bedroom Tax to be scrapped.

e. NHS Bill to be repealed.

f. Benefits Cap to be retained at £26,000.

g. Winter Fuel Allowance to be means tested and removed from the richest 5 per cent of pensioners.h. Ministers’ pay cut by 5 per cent, and frozen until nation’s books are balanced.
i. Mansion tax on homes worth more than £2million to be introduced.

j. Minimum wage to be increased to £8-an-hour by 2020.

k. Compulsory jobs guarantee for young people and long-term unemployed to be introduced. (paid for by a new tax on Bankers)

l. Free childcare for working parents to be extended to 25 hours a week. (Funded by a new Bank Levy)

m. Business rates for 1.5 million business properties to be reduced. (funded by cancelling a planned cut in Corporation Tax)

n. Top rate of tax at 50p to be scrapped. (Reversing the coalition’s decision)

o. Firms paying workers the living wage hourly rate of pay to receive tax breaks.
3. Stating the Case for Financial Prudence

a. Labour vowed to restore the broken link between the wealth of the nation and family finances. “While our economy is growing again most working people are still not seeing any benefit from the recovery.” “This is our task: not to flinch from the tough decisions we must make and to show the country that there is a better way forward.” “Three years of lost growth at the start of this parliament means we will have to deal with a deficit of £75 billion – not the balanced budget George Osborne promised by 2015. And that will make the task of governing hugely difficult.” “Working people have had to balance their own books. And they are clear that the government needs to balance its books too.” No new spending commitments funded by extra borrowing

b. Ministers’ salaries were cut by 5 per cent when the coalition came to power and left at that level for the whole parliament, in the aftermath of the expenses scandal. Labour to reduce salaries by a further 5 per cent-reducing a cabinet minister’s salary by almost £7,000 to around £127,800.

c. Married couples allowance, worth £200 a year to couples where one partner does not pay income tax, due to be introduced next year, is to be scrapped saving £3 billion. money to be used introducing a lower 10p starting rate of income tax providing a tax cut for 24 million people on middle and low incomes.
4. Balancing the Books’ by 2020.

a. Analysis claims that Labour tax policies could cost the UK 300,000 jobs and more than £25billion in GDP. A, “Centre for Policy Studies” report analyses ten major tax announcements made by the Opposition, including an increase in corporation tax for most firms from 20 per cent to 21 per cent, a new top rate of income tax of 50p, a mansion tax on expensive homes, and a new financial transactions tax.
5. a. How Will the Deficit be Eliminated?

Questioned about how a future Labour government should tackle the the deficit Labour insisted their manifesto would contain no new spending commitments funded by extra borrowing. However, there is increasing pressure from many in the Labour Party to put up taxes instead of cutting spending.

42 per cent argued for more tax rises
18 per cent wanted spending cuts
7 per cent call for increased borrowing and
4 per cent said there is no need to reduce the deficit

6. A ComRes survey for BBC Sunday Politics found that;

85 per cent of Labour candidates thought the level of public spending was, “‘about right”‘
10 per cent said it was, “too low”
4 per cent said it was, “too high”

7. A survey of 73 Labour candidates by ComRes showed most want to see more tax rises to tackle the deficit, with only 18 per cent supporting cuts to public spending. But poverty groups warned the moves to prove Labour would be tough on the deficit would only make it harder for families to pay the bills.
8. Comments on the Proposals

a. Conservative Treasury Exchequer Secretary Priti Patel said, “The speech isn’t a serious plan for the economy – Labour would put the deficit up, not down.” “Savings on ministerial pay only cut a minuscule fraction of the deficit – less than 1 per cent of 1 per cent.” “For all the bluster, Labour still refuse to admit that they spent too much and they have opposed every decision we’ve taken to cut the deficit. “All a Labour government would offer is more inefficient spending, more taxes and more debt than our children could ever hope to repay.”

b. Simon Walker, Director General of the Institute of Directors, said Labour was, “on the wrong track if they think that raising taxes is the way to secure the economic recovery.” He added, “Bringing back the 50p rate of income tax will raise an insignificant amount for the taxman while sending a clear signal that Britain doesn’t want wealth-creators. Labour’s previous success came because they recognized the importance of enterprise in creating a prosperous society.” “To prove that they are pro-business, Labour must drop the commitment to this self-defeating, envy-driven tax.” “Recent cuts to corporation tax have benefited all businesses and made the UK a competitive place to invest. We would strongly urge Labour to think about the consequences for growth and jobs before hiking rates.”

c. The limit on increases to child benefit is expected to save £400 million over five years. However, it comes after Mr Balls has spent four years criticizing the coalition for cuts and changes to child benefit. Child benefit is paid at £20.50 a week for the first child and £13.55 for every other child, regardless of parental income. Since January 2013, families where one parent earns more than £50,000 have seen their child benefit cut, and those on more than £60,000 have lost it altogether.

d. Under austerity measures introduced by the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition Government, child benefit was frozen from 2010 to this year. Tory Chancellor George Osborne has already said it should only increase by 1 per cent in 2015-16. But Mr Balls said the restraint should continue for another year. With inflation running at around 2 per cent, it means the value of child benefit is falling in real terms.
Mr Balls said: ‘I want to see child benefit rising again in line with inflation in the next parliament. ‘But we will not spend money we cannot afford. So for the first two years of the next parliament we will cap the rise in child benefit at 1 per cent. ‘It will save £400 million in the next parliament. And all the savings will go towards reducing the deficit.’

e. The Children’s Society, chief executive Matthew Reed said, “Labour’s announcement on plans to cap child benefit rises comes after repeated squeezes on this bedrock of the family budget. “It represents a major real-terms cut to 13 million children. “Policy is about making choices and the shadow chancellor has made a choice, to look for savings by cutting help for children. “Child benefit has already been frozen from 2010, and then increased by just 1% this year, falling well below rising prices. “Now this proposal would compound that loss, seeing average families facing a £400 cut in child benefit per year by 2017. “We urge the shadow chancellor to reconsider so that children and their already struggling families do not suffer even more unnecessary hardship.”

f. Families charity Gingerbread. Chief Executive Fiona Weir said, “Child benefit helps to pay for essentials like food and clothes. For many parents, single parents especially, it can be a lifeline.” “Freezing child benefit will raise relatively little in terms of government savings, but means cutting vital support at a time when families are struggling to make ends meet and the number of children living in poverty is projected to rise rapidly over the next few years.” “This proposal would only make it harder for families to pay the bills.”

Glasgow District Council -corruption, cronyism, scandal and waste,

Labour run Glasgow City Council seems to have a problem with corruption, cronyism, scandal and waste, whereby by a remote and out of touch self serving elite, yes, both Councillors & Officials, together run the city as there own private thiefdom, at the expense of the people of Glasgow. It is a shocking state of affairs, which shows the problem of one party rule. The Labour Party has controlled Glasgow almost uninterrupted, since 1933.

What can be done to help restore the public’s faith in Glasgow City Council? The Labour administration in Glasgow seems resolute in its denial that there are question marks over any aspect of the way the council was run under Purcell, rejecting calls for an independent inquiry. But still the questions remain, with every round of Sunday newspapers bringing new issues to light. There is growing concern amongst those calling for an investigation that the longer it is put off, the less confidence residents of Glasgow will have in their council.

Gordon Brown plotter supreme secret Meetings with Lib/Dems to bring Salmond down.
http://www.oilofscotland.org/LibLabPlot.avi

Gordon Brown is Gifted with th Ability to Leave you feeling you are a lesser person.

Gordon Brown – Leaves you feeling you are a lesser person.

1. History will record that Gordon Brown’s record in government could be readily likened to a Greek tragedy. As a leader it was obvious early on that his undoubted intelligence persistently hampered his ability to access others.  Even his toughest critics accept that he is an intelligent man. It is a matter of record that Brown was studying History at Edinburgh University at age 16 and that he went on to get his PhD from the same university. Like the fate of talented, driven people before him, he was “promoted” for his brilliance and aptitude. He is an intelligent, ambitious man by all measures. But a better question for a Prime Minister might be “What effect does he have on the intelligence in the people around him?” There, Brown has struggled. Consider a few examples:

a. The Tyrant vs The Liberator. Tom Bower’s biography, Gordon Brown, Prime Minister offers detailed insight into someone described as “psychologically flawed”; a chaotic figure, prone to sudden and terrible rages. “Repeatedly he lost his temper, screaming obscenities at those he damned as dishonorable or incompetent,” writes Bower.

b. Decision-Maker vs. The Debate Maker. Brown has a gravity pull towards making decisions unilaterally or with a small group of inner advisors. Caroline Flint felt so underutilized that when she resigned she described being no more than “window dressing.” She wrote, “You have a two-tier government. Your inner circle and then the remainder of cabinet… In my current role, you advised that I would attend cabinet when Europe was on the agenda. I have only been invited once since October and not to a single political cabinet – not even the one held a few weeks before the European elections…I am not willing to attend cabinet in a peripheral capacity any longer.” http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/jun/05/caroline-flint-resignation-letter

c. Micromanager vs. The Investor. Bower describes Brown as a control freak as Chancellor, determined to micro-manage not just the economy but the entire sweep of British domestic policy, even contractually binding government departments to do the Treasury’s bidding or else face a cut in their budgets.

d. Core Assumptions. Then came the moment just days ago, in the midst of the General Election where Brown was caught on a microphone calling Gillian Duffy “a bigoted sort of a woman” after just having told her to her face that she had a nice family. His disdain for her opinions revealed an amazing contempt for the views of ordinary people. There was no curiosity in his voice. Just accusation, judgment and blame of his handlers. http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2010/apr/28/gordon-brown-bigoted-woman

e. When I think of Brown over the last three years I am reminded of something Bono wrote in Time magazine: “It has been said that after meeting with the great British Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone, you left feeling he was the smartest person in the world, but after meeting with his rival Benjamin Disraeli, you left thinking you were the smartest person.” By all accounts Gordon Brown falls into the Gladstone category.

f. I have often thought that the job of Prime Minister is now so complicated that it is impossible for a person—however intelligent—to be successful at it. It is no longer just how intelligent they are themselves that matters, but how well they can access the intelligence of the people around them.

Farage blasts Gordon Brown as he calls for New Global Order

Labour managed to spend the 3G money as well ! And the £35 billion they raided from British Pension Funds and every other stealth tax they invented. 10p in the £ anybody? And if 40p was OK then why is 45p wrong now? Hypocrites! You only get into debt when you spend more than you earn and borrow to make up the difference. Its really very simple. Even before the Bank bail outs we were in the shit with Labour. It now turns out the 2008 / 09 recession was 2% worse than we were told.

British troops have begun their withdrawal from Iraq after over six years of occupation. The war led to a disconnect between the British people and their elected representatives, as well as a backlash against the UK’s Muslim minority. It also led to much death and destruction in Iraq itself.

Scottish Referendum. Gordon Brown has no right to talk for the English. I for one will not let a Scottish MP and the one who ran the UK into the ground make deals to his own people on my behalf. Make note Scots anyone telling you the English will bribe you to stay has no authority. Don,t think you can have your cake and eat it. If you want to stay then great but 60 million English will not pay you to stay whatever Gordon thinks he can say on our behalf. English Nationalism will make a comeback so get ready for it.

Liar Liar – Not the Movie Just John Reid, (the baron)

Baron John Reid, man of principle or Just a wee liar, history judges him to be the latter- his legacy to his constituents is, “see you suckers”. I witnessed his speech and noted the bulk of those in attendance were from places other than that which he claimed to represent. Most were not even from Glasgow or the West of Scotland. Talk about rent an audience. This was it in spades.

John Reid, (Sorry Baron Reid, he took the ermin) represented for many a year an area of Glasgow which suffered the worst social deprivation, lowest life expectancy and highest infant mortality in the developed world, not a lot was done in his time in office or since, (under the stewardship of his successor) to improve matters.

Set against these damming facts is that the Labour Party and John Reid knew full well, (for the last 40 year’s) that Scotland had massive oil and gas wealth and that the Scottish people were being conned and lied too for decades.

I wondered at his behaviour and the justification of it then remembered the Labour party creed allows the sacrifice of the electorate for perceived good of the bigger picture of the Labour Party and it’s manifesto.

Margaret Curran & Johaan Lamont Ladies with a Past, But Hopefully No Future

Margaret Curran Labour Party MP for the East of Glasgow and Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland is a Labour Party animal.

1. Labour Party Doctrine;

a. The Labour Party comes, first, last and always.

b. The Labour Party is infallible. Any thing she does or is done in the party name is explained away as always being for the better good of the people.

c. The Labour Party provides a vehicle allowing officers of the party to manipulate the needs and wishes of the electorate so that they are in harmony with the Party’s wishes and the promotion of the officers of the Party.

d. Local officers of the Party promote the myth that they are in place and trusted implicitly to service and protect the needs and aspirations of the local electorate.

e. Nepotism is a good thing since it ensures continuity of electorate representation.

f. Promotion of religious division is to be encouraged, nurtured and maintained in electorate areas where there might be a significant majority of one religion over another. Popularly called, “Divide & Rule.
2. Denis Healey – Oil & Gas Finds – The McCrone Report

a. Healey admitted that the Labour government cheated the Scottish electorate out of the oil and gas finds reported on in the McCrone Report.

b. Margaret Curran, (at that time) was a senior officer of the Labour Party, (through her duties in the University) and enjoyed regular contact with officers of the party of all levels. It is expected Margaret and her close working colleague Johaan Lamont would have been aware of the existence and content of the McCrone document. If not at the time it was presented then soon after.

c. Margaret and Johaan represent, (still do) areas of Glasgow with the worst social deprivation, lowest life expectancy and highest infant mortality in the developed world and not a lot has or is being done to improve matters. Set against this damming situation is the fact that the Labour Party and both Margaret and Johaan knew full well, (for the last 40 year’s) that Scotland had massive oil and gas wealth and that the Scottish people have been lied to for decades. I wondered at their behavior and the justification of it then remembered the Labour party creed allows the sacrifice of the electorate for perceived good of the bigger picture of the Labour Party and it’s manifesto.

Glasgow South West – Poorly Served By Davidson And His labour Party Colleagues – Time For Change -Get ‘Em Out

ian-davidson-news-night

Ian Davidson was born in 1950 in the borders region of Scotland. He migrated north to Strathclyde and was elected to the position of councillor with the Strathclyde Regional Council, where he was employed from 1978 -1992. He gave up his post when he was elected as a Labour MP  and has  been at Westminster from that time, until 2015. As sitting MP it is expected he will contest Glasgow & South West in the May 2015 general election.

davidsontax-460x318

My family lived in the Gorbals in 1955. At that time people were poor, badly housed, undernourished, in ill-health and ill educated. Not a lot has changed since. Visitors to Glasgow are  kept well away from  Govan being directed to visiting the impressive George Square,  the recently built BBC Scotland Headquarters and Science Centre buildings et. al.

10906197_10152700897067809_8934328049857904768_n

But visit Govan, (no way) it is a different world far removed from the glitter and gloss of areas that have been upgraded, through the good auspices of the Glasgow City Council.  In Govan the lives of many inhabitants are still blighted by grinding poverty, drug dealing, alcohol abuse, ill health, early death, unemployment and despair. There are other areas of Glasgow in which conditions in Govan are mirrored.  A factor common to all of the aformentioned is that for 50 years voters have loyally given their precious vote to Labour politicians whose only interest is to perpetuate the deprivation so that they would be sure of securing another majority at the next election.

10906490_10153513481496038_4232425116080840932_n

Davidson is Chairman of The Scottish Affairs Select Committee at Westminster. His style of management is dicatorial, strident and overbearing. He tolerates no dispute over any decsions he takes in the name of the committeee he regards as his to control.

Davidson, is probably the most influential of Labour Party policy deciders, “almost anything he say’s goes” where Scottish politics is concerned. He is known to be quite scathing of the Scottish Parliament, in particular the ability of the MSP’s, including Labour elected to it. Scotland would be best advised to remember Davidson’s quote before the referendum, “Once we get our, “No” vote in 2014, we’ll rip so many powers from the Scottish Parliament the neo-Nats might as well meet once a month above a pub, for all they’ll have left to talk about”. So there is a hidden Labour agenda. In the event of a “No” vote, (duly delivered by campaign of fear) the Scottish Parliament, will be first neutered then, in time abandoned.

In the course of the referendum campaign he  was vociferous in his oppositon to any form of independence. On one occasion he demanded that the MOD insert a, “get out” clause into a warship contract, due to be signed off  with BAE to build frigates on the Clyde so that the MOD could remove the contract to Portsmouth in the event of a “Yes” vote. So much for representing his people, the bulk of Glasgows shipbuilding constituents live in Govan.

Puppet on a string

In Westminster,  Davidson, prominent  anti-independence campaigner repeated his call that once the, “conflict” of the independence campaign is over “all that will be required is mopping up and bayoneting of the wounded.” http://www.glawest.org/ian-davidson-mp-repeats-call-to-bayonet-scottish-independence-supporters/

In March 2007, Davidson purchased from his, Additional Costs Allowance , reclining furniture costing nearly £1,500 and had it delivered to his Glasgow home at the time he was claiming his Commons allowance on his flat in South London. He said the suite was later driven to London at the taxpayers cost. he subsequently claimed and was reimbursed in full for both bills.

iandavidson

Under the Green Book rules, the allowance can only reimburse MPs for “expenses wholly, exclusively and necessarily incurred when staying overnight away from their main UK residence … for the purpose of performing their parliamentary duties.”

A note of enquiry from a Commons official was concerned Davidson paid a property search agency to help him find a new flat and references records showing Davidson had already claimed £1,000 of taxpayers’ money with nothing to show for it and was concerned about how long the search, at the taxpayers expense would go on.

Davidson explained he wanted to use the agency because — away from home a lot — no time to house hunt — unfamiliar with English house-hunting. He had not expected this to take so long. The market was difficult — not sure how much longer it would take. He added he was, “not sure about terms of contractwith the agency but that he might have to pay £5k in all. He didn’t remember who he spoke to originally or who had authorized this spend.”  The final charge to the taxpayer for finding Davidson a flat came to £6,000. The fees’ office agreed a proportion of this sum. He then billed the taxpayer for more than £11,000 to move  into the flat.

1312-Tesco-Silverburn-National-Food-Collection-620x350

Expense claims show that Davidson, a member of the Commons Public Accounts Committee, arranged for a handyman from Glasgow to renovate his south London flat between 2005-06 and 2007-08 at a cost to the taxpayer of £5500. He then took the handyman, whom he described as a “family friend”,  shooting at two events organized by the National Rifle Association. In one match he was on a Commons’ team against the House of Lords. Davidson said he “could not recall” whether the handyman paid his own costs.

Davidson said permission to employ his “family friend” had been “specifically requested from the fees office and agreed on the basis that it would be cheaper than employing a London firm. He said: “he accompanied me on two occasions to a shooting match with the National Rifle Association. Since a competition had already been arranged to shoot at Bisley, I sought and was given agreement for him to participate as my guest.”

1306-ID-which-nuisance-calls-Silverburn

Davidson said he had the furniture delivered to Glasgow “since someone is invariably in and my London house is on a bus lane with double red lines.” He said he had hired a property search company because he had “spent many fruitless hours looking for a suitable property and then decided to seek professional help”. The fees office had agreed it was an “acceptable cost”. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mps-expenses/5351148/MPs-expenses-Ian-Davidson-paid-friend-5500-to-renovate-flat-then-took-him-shooting.html

10007393_776205645794207_6391159673619889042_n

The people of Glasgow (Govan) should reject Davidson and his self serving Labour party colleagues in favour of the SNP who, as entity exist only to serve the people of Scotland. Labour have had enough chances.
