The powers that be wanted a war to reduce the surplus population. Hitler, Stalin, Churchill pretended to have an cause for people to die for. The Middle Ages had religious wars. Unemployment was high in Europe. The unemployed in one country fought the unemployed on the other side. They killed each other. Those who survive rebuild until the next war. They all think they have an cause.
