Profligate, Unaccountable Quango’s Dominate Scottish Services
Scotland’s secrecy watchdog, the Information Commissioner, and Scotland’s Auditor General expressed public concern about the more than 300 advisory and 131 public bodies that SNP Government Ministers have set up since taking office and advised they were not confident they had discovered secretive quangos many of which were put in place further increasing the already bloated expenditure of billions of pounds of public money.

WOKE Activist Civil Servants Dominate Scottish Society
The number of Civil Servants employed by the Scottish Government at the start of February 2025 has doubled since the start of Nicola Sturgeon took up the post as Scotland’s First Minister and now exceeds 600,000, (nearly 25% of Scotland’s workforce).

Scottish Civil Servants are Entitled to a Weekly Chill-Out Hour
In the “Wellbeing Hour“ Staff are encouraged to do yoga, read or take a walk to “de-stress” from the heavy toll of being a civil servant. Though they can decide themselves what they do with their free hour. The entitlement is estimated to cost the public purse around £7 million per year in wages.
John O’Connell, Chief Executive of the TaxPayers’ Alliance, blasted the programme saying :“While ministers squeeze ever more tax out of pay packets, bureaucrats are being granted a siesta. The Scottish Government should put a stop to this.”

The SNP Government is also committed to civil servants pay bands much higher than similar staff in England a policy that incurs vastly increased employer National Insurance costs since the Treasury at Westminster restricts reimbursement expenditure to the Scottish Government to the lower level.
Opposition Parties expressed shock and horror at the profligate industrial-scale abuse of taxpayers’ money funding a supersized state of bloated quangos and talking shops.

Third sector support is another concern. A myriad of Government Minister favoured supposedly charitable organisations are delivering often duplicated services, (with a significant bent to supporting WOKE policies) without account or independent audit whilst in receipt of millions of pounds from the public purse.
The Scottish Government’s wanton expenditure of public funds without accountability is indefensible. Scottish voters need to be alerted to this so they can express their displeasure at the Scottish General elections in 2026.

Wow! I got this as a supporter of independence but seem to have been eased into a Tory rant.
Has Caltonjock just exposed himself as a Unionist fifth columnist?
An unmitigated arse-hole looking for a unionist prick to screw with.

No error Colin and I am very committed to an independent Scotland. I believe the SNP to be in vain pursuit of independence for Scotland since the Party is dominated by Swinney, Sturgeon and their partners in Scottish politics who believe in the, ” gradualist” tactic which guarantee’s them a lifetime political career and very lucrative pension given that tomorrow never comes.
Reform will most likely dominate Scottish politics at the time of the Scottish General election in 2026 due to the failings of the Labour Government and they are committed to giving Scots an early opportunity for another referendum. But in any event I no longer believe independence will be achieved through political means in preference for the “Salvo” direction. Hope this clears things up for you. Jock

It must be annoying to be called a Unionist when all your doing is highlight people to the evidence or facts to what is really happening in Scotland. Its dreadful and makes things that much harder when after 10yrs of corrupt Sturgeon and her careerist mob, people who claim to want Independence just don’t see whats right in front of them, I really do wonder if there support is WOKE SNP and not Independence at all.
Are you saying that reform will give Scotland a section 30, I thought I seen somewhere else that wasn’t going to happen.
I too believe our route of this union is the work Sara and Salvo/Liberation have done and what they have found.

As I’ve followed the political scene for so many years, read of Committees and Groups and quangos, etc., I’ve been aware of so many of these ‘advisory’ bodies & the abundance of Civil Service people for quite awhile now & my head has been doing all the maths – salaries & bonuses = BIG pensions and the longer you can be a part of these ‘bodies’, the better your retirement lifestyle! And all the while, you’re actually doing extremely little to earn it!
I’m so glad that the Information Commissioner & the Auditor General are finally catching up! Surely, though, they could have found all these extraneous ‘bodies’ in past audits? It’s not like it’s a NEW thing for SNP. Or any other political party, come to that! But at least it is now exposed for what it is – cuts to services while advisory bodies & Civil Servants increase, as do their salaries. I have to ask myself, ‘Given the choice, which would voters prefer to have?’ and I certainly don’t think that more advisory bodies & Civil Servants wins the prize!’
